This is our new blog, hopefully the first of many posts. We are relatively new beekeepers, this being our 3rd year of keeping bees. We completed the beginners training course with Romford division. We would recommend the training course which was over a number of weeks and covered both classroom learning and getting out and meeting the bees for the first time, assisting the tutors in inspecting the clubs hives. So now as we learn on the job , our intention is to share our bee adventures good and bad, either way it will be fun learning.
The photo shows one of our hives on a farm in Upminster which was given to us by our friend Fillippo a veteran club member who on occasion is still known to inspect his bees in his sandals and shorts not mention no gloves. This photo is post inspection and as you can see it is a strong colony set up against the hedge with plenty of shade provided by surrounding trees so hopefully helping to keep the temperature down a little. The location is excellent and the hives are surrounded by miles of open fields with various crops . We cant wait to taste the honey
